EU Protests Internet Censorship In ACTA And TTP

By Marni E. Goldberg

Following an unprecedented revolt against US Internet piracy legislation known as SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act) in January of this year, Europeans gathered in over 200 cities to protest the proposed International Trade Agreements called ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement) and TTP (Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement) .

Unlike SOPA and PIPA, opponents of ACTA and TTP are even more outraged because the signing of an International Trade Agreement by-passes all legislative input, checks and balances, and transparencies associated with enacting laws. It is believed that these two trade agreements are simply back door ways to achieve that which SOPA and PIPA have failed to accomplish...INTERNET CENSORSHIP!
