Comment by Tim Cason Jr on February 29, 2012 at 10:34pm @Arik I studied Japanese language and anthropology in college. It's funny how much is changed in the translations between language and cultural boundaries. When words and ideas cross cultural boundaries, they are sometimes reinvented so they can be accepted and used by the separate culture.
Comment by Marni E. Goldberg on February 29, 2012 at 9:23am Disclaimer: Otaku has officially been taken off the Geek chart. Apologies to the anime-geeks. Not to worry, animes....@Tim has your back. Thanks @Tim. Good eye.
Comment by Arik Zahavi on February 29, 2012 at 9:18am haha...it takes a geek to know a geek...nice rebuttal on the Otaku. Where are you getting your data from @Tim?
Comment by Tim Cason Jr on February 29, 2012 at 12:05am The otaku is not an 'anime-geek', which this infographic suggests. In fact, in Japan, Otaku is a person with an obsessive personality toward any sub-culture or particular interest. The anime Otaku is just the most popular and dramaticized in pop culture, such as in one of my favorite films Densha Otoko. (minus 2 dexterity - Wired.com)
Comment by Kristin Rafferty on February 20, 2012 at 10:20pm Thank goodness for that! Therapy is expensive. At least this isn't a reason to go. More like a reason people hire you for work.
Comment by Marni E. Goldberg on February 20, 2012 at 10:10am Aren't we all a little geeky in one way or another? It's our generation in a nutshell, but we've managed to make Geek...chic. Talk about a 180! haha
Comment by Kristin Rafferty on February 20, 2012 at 5:34am Now I know I am one in a few different ways. Thank you for this chart!
