Remember a couple of months ago when we were discussing whether it was a good idea to use Social Networking to find job applicants? Some of us were a little gun-shy. These online profiles have pictures, and information about age, political affiliations, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, and all of the other things…

After my last helpful post about how there’s no real rhyme or reason to how you throw your resume together, I’m sure you've been on the edge of your seat waiting to hear my advice on cover letters. These are the most irritating part of the application process. They are time-consuming, and while you’re writing them there’s a little voice inside…

Remember when you were looking for work, and people kept telling you the best way to find employment was to network both on and offline? Specifically, you should remember ME telling you that. Well once you start working, your networking shouldn’t stop. Opportunities are going to continue to present themselves outside of your current position and…

Marni E. Goldberg said… I didn't realize it, but you can also rearrange the boxes on the right too. Check out my profile to see how I've arranged my blocks.
The blank text box that I've labeled "About Me" is really the coolest part of this page. It is unlimited in the amount of text, images, videos, attachments, widgets, special code, etc. that you can add. Again...a tutorial is on the way, but as an HR pro you should be getting chills up your leg by now! lol
Check out Britt's page. The top image that says Britt's Resume was linked to a printable pdf version of her resume. We removed the link recently because we are using the example in a tutorial and she needs to be a bit more private these days. She also added her reporter reel, and a product slideshow of her boutique Tsu Basa [she's a die-hard entrepreneur]. We set her page up originally as an example page, but have opted to use a fake member, Nora Newbee, instead for demo purposes.
Marni E. Goldberg said… Hey Scott
Just posted a page that has our Ap Stylebook Tip Sheet. It's been on my 'to do list', and I can finally cross it off it thanks to YOU! If you have any other style questions, we have the full guide available for reference.
Also, might I suggest that you rearrange your profile page to bring your profile information and blogs to the top of your page.
To do so, simply hover your cursor over the top left corner of any text box that runs down the center of your page. It will change into an arrow and allow you to reposition the boxes.
I would also cut down your Activity Log and Comment Wall by clicking the "edit" button to the top right of each box and select your preferences. I cut mine down to the bare minimum because this site is more about promoting your brand than it is about socialization. We have FB for that!
We are currently working on a series of Screenflow tutorials that will demonstrate the power of a Gen Y Hub profile/portfolio page. Our ultimate goal is to revolutionize the resume process by making them interactive, multi-media presentations.
This year is going to be hot, hot, hot!

Marni E. Goldberg said… Scott...check out this infographic by copyblogger.com. Pretty cool.
Marni E. Goldberg said… I had to add the first paragraph of your blog to your HUB post because there was not enough text to push your direct link off the front page. It's just a policy we have to keep visitors more engaged in our site. Plus it delivers an additional page view.
Keep up the great work, Scott! We love your posts.
