I always knew I'd see the days of jet packs but never thought they'd start out this cool! This isn't your regular, run of the mill, futuristic, Jetson's jet pack - no, this new invention takes water sports to a whole new level - literally.
First conceived in 2000 by Chinese Canadian, Rammond Li, he tested his first flight in 2005, and designed his first prototype in 2008. After 30 test pilots, countless test hours, flights, and revisions, the JetLev developed production models, and now sell them to the public for $130,000.
The jet pack is connected to a hose, powered by the water flow of the driving jet ski. The hose allows the driver to have full control of their flight, enforces a flight ceiling for the pack, and acts as a stabilizer. Through the remote console, a nozzle angle determines the allocation of thrust between lift and propulsion. The jet pack has a 250 HP Engine at 6800 RPMs and can travel up to 10 meters in the air. At full fuel capacity, the jet pack can cruise for up to 3 hours.

Comment by Paige Dahl on February 11, 2012 at 9:37am I've been parasailing in Mexico, but this water system is so awesome. I love how it goes underwater then propels upwards into the sky. Just hate to see what happens when the water stream is cut and the dude is 30' in the air!
