Most may have already heard about the shocking news from Aurora , Colorado where a man killed 12 and injured 58+ in a movie theatre during the premier of the new movie "The Dark Knight Rises". Many movie goers were out in costume to watch the final chapter of the Batman Trilogy, including the murder James Holmes. The man had legally purchased a rifle, a shotgun, and two pistols, all of which he brought into the theatre and used on an innocent unsuspecting audience. Among the injured were a 4 month old baby and a 6 year old child.
This terrorist's heinous act has shaken the country and a solution has to be made. It seems once a year a mass shooting breaks out and the weapons used are all legally bought. The negatives of the right to bare arms are outweighing the benefits. Why is it that we always hear stories of people using legal weapons for bad acts but barely hear of people using their weapons for good?
My prayers and wishes go out too all the victims and their families.

Comment by Zane Whitman on July 24, 2012 at 8:30am Thanks, Fahd...John Stewart's pretty funny. Wonder what he would have said if one of the people he showed said "let's open this dialogue by insisting that every American citizen carry a gun from today forward." Imagine the look on his face then! I'd check his seat too.

Comment by Fahd AlQasimi on July 23, 2012 at 4:56pm Thanks for all the input guys, your all making really good points. Thanks for that video Madison, its great to finally see some evidence of fire arms for good. As for the criminals in that video, there is no information on how they bought the gun. So i cant tell if it was legal or not, but i did read that the gun was rusty, old and wasn't working well so my guess it was illegal. Which is kind of interesting because this shows that illegal guns don't have as good quality meaning less chance of them working.
Also interesting that the old man story is nowhere to be found on any major media outlet. only on some forums and websites like Zane said. Weird.
Comment by Marisa Mostek on July 23, 2012 at 3:43pm Good point, Chris- like I tried to express, if there's a will, there's a way.
Comment by Chris Michaels on July 23, 2012 at 2:23pm Even if guns were illegal since when do criminals follow the law
Comment by Zane Whitman on July 23, 2012 at 8:15am Wow do we have some ballsy girls in the house today! Madison, Britt...you have valid points. Guns don't kill, people do. Love the old guy, Samuel. Looks just like my Paps and his Boomer crew. If you noticed, all those Gen Yer's sitting at the computers were sitting ducks. None had the goods like Paps. You have to respect that. He may have saved a lot of peoples lives that day. That video is great. They should be broadcasting that one. But for some reason....LAME STREAM MEDIA...isn't going to do that.
Comment by Britt Hysen on July 23, 2012 at 8:02am I think it is absolutely necessary to have access to these guns for the mere fact of protecting yourself against those who don't give a crap about registering their guns. You WILL NEVER GET GUNS OUT OF THE WRONG HANDS which is why innocent people need to be able to protect themselves. If you look at the history of governments coming in to take the people's weaponry - THEY ALWAYS end up reversing their motives, controlling everyone, and committing mass genocides.

Guns don't kill. People do. A gun would not do harm if the person using it didn't have malice intent. In the case of this horrific killing spree, there is NO WAY he acted alone. He had a connection to military equipment and extensive training in using such gear as well as setting up his apartment to be booby-trapped the likes of what has never been seen by the bomb squad who worked to detonate the explosives. Check out my extensive article on the matter. It's pretty interesting and ironic that the Small Arms Treaty - which would ultimately give the UN full control to seize our registered guns - will be up for deliberation on the Senate floor, but could be bypassed by an Executive Order from our President who seems to fancy that loophole all too often.
I'm not a gun-using advocate, I'm a gun-bearing advocate. If a burglar came into your home, would you want to be stuck with a phone call to 911 or have the ability to cock a shotgun and scare that asshole! I'd rather have a gun than a knife any day. It wouldn't be a fun moment by any means, but at least you might survive.
Comment by Madison Hart on July 23, 2012 at 8:02am oops...typo...meant TYRANNY
Comment by Madison Hart on July 23, 2012 at 7:57am Banned? Are you serious? Our constitution states we, as American citizens, have the right to bare arms. Criminals don't usually register guns. Aurora is an anomaly. Inner city kids are killed every weekend in drive-by shootings. Do you really think those guns are legal? Do you think banning guns would prevent that useless, daily violence that no one seems to even bother anymore to report? NEVER let the government BAN guns. It is not their right to do so. The second amendment was put in place to prevent TYRANY...the government or military from taking control of the people. Don't be fooled. Don't be sheep. Wake up. Stand up for our constitutional rights. Not sure where you were raised, Fahd, but we can not allow gun control by our government in this country. So I will leave you with a "good" story...if there really is such a thing. Watch this 71 year old, pistol packing protector do his due diligence in stopping an Internet Cafe robbery. Now tell me, do you think the guns the criminals were packing were registered? Let me know what you think.
Comment by Fahd AlQasimi on July 23, 2012 at 6:04am I see what you are saying Marisa about the black market (because i feel the same way when it comes to Marijuana). And i know it isn't an easy task and it will have some repercussions like people going to the black market but i think the benefits outweigh the negatives. Banning guns might throw a small hurdle in peoples way but if that hurdle stops one attack every 2 years = saving the lives of 10+ people...is that not worth it? How many lives are saved because of the second amendment? less than are taken.
When it comes to hunting why do we need a selection of shotguns, rifles, pistols? If our ancestors could do it with arrows and blades why do we need high powered fire arms?
I guess banning them isnt likely but i hope for alot better regulation. Like limiting to selling one weapon (a pistol) not a variety of pistols just one model. And a more extensive background checks.
