“Will Smith slaps journalist who tries to kiss him.” read the headline on the Yahoo News website. Apparently, Ukrainian television reporter Vitalii Sediuk attempted to kiss Will Smith on the mouth as he walked down the red carpet for the Moscow premiere of Men in Black III. The slap was light and half hearted, but the intent was there as Smith then said "C'mon man, what the hell is your problem buddy?" Later in front of a group of reporters Smith said "He's lucky I didn't sucker punch him.”

What is wrong with this Ukraine man that he thinks this would be an okay thing to do? It is a blatant disregard for not only personal space but personal boundaries as well. I believe his intention was to create press for himself as the “man who kissed Will Smith” but the whole thing came off as creepy and extremely unprofessional. Is this what reporting has come to? Seeing who can embarrass celebrities the worst? I personally feel that journalists should be held to a higher standard than this. Their job is to report the news, not to create the most sensation.
