Comment by Scott Keenan on February 7, 2012 at 4:03pm Thanks Guys, I determined that the conclusion on this one is....inconclusive. I'm working on another post where I solicit the opinions of Staffing Firms, Recruiters, Hiring Managers and HR Professionals to un-blur some of the questions surrounding what's supposed to go on a resume. Should be up in a couple weeks.
I agree with you Britt. I think over at least the next 20 years (hopefully fewer) everyone will have an app that links to your online profile so there will be no need to apply or advertise positions. Some companies already ask for you LinkedIn profile, but larger organizations (including government) are still using recruitment systems that you need a computer programming degree from 1995 to navigate. They won't be quick to adopt this. I think the resume will be around for a little while. :P
Comment by Britt Hysen on February 7, 2012 at 11:38am Great advise Scott! As much as I feel resumes are still extremely necessary and relevant - I feel like websites and profile pages are starting to become the go-to for employers since they can access your work. What are your thoughts?
Comment by Madison Hart on February 5, 2012 at 10:36am Good post. Most HR depts are scanning resumes for keywords. I would also comb the job description to locate words that you can include in your resume. Use verbs to describe your experience. And yes, numbers are KING. Stats, percentages, volume...you'd be surprised at how you can quantify your life experience. Thanks, Scott.
