Hindsight...Still a Little Blurry When it Comes to My Undergrad - 4 Things I Wish I Had Known BEFORE I Started College

Have you ever heard of conversation cards? They’re little cards that ask questions to generate conversation. They say something like “what was the last thing you regret buying?” or “which celebrity (dead or alive) would you like to have dinner with?” If you hate talking about the weather as much as I do, when you first saw them you thought they were fantastic. I actually think those conversation starters would be a good idea for freshmen orientation. They seem more interesting than the icebreaker games at mine. It could be like a speed dating thing where people pair up randomly for five minutes and have to answer whatever cards are on the table.

I can’t think of a single thing to tell my 17-year-old-self that she’d take seriously, or conversely, wouldn’t fearfully immobilize. There’s a reason we don’t have time travel.

They're great to have on hand as long as you're ok with people thinking you're a loser most of the time. I came to terms with it.

conversation starters! def needs these sometimes. hate those awkward silences when I'm in my head about something I should or shouldn't say - and then the time passes and it becomes even more awkward to say what I was contemplating saying 10 mins earlier. hahh
