Art comes in all shapes and sizes, and can be found in the most unlikely places.
Just ask scientist Michael Davidson who discovered 20 years ago that "the images taken with a microscope could be used for more than just scientific studies". You're looking at Champagne!
Through a partnership with BevShots, a new art form and profitable business was born. Beginning with a common alcoholic beverage, "the liquids are crystallized on a slide and photographed under a polarized light microscope. The vivid colors and patterns are captured as light refracts through the beverage crystals."
Voila! Gorgeous artwork that has been turned into everything from framed prints, to flasks, coasters, neckties, and even fashion wraps, appealing to both art and alcohol connoisseurs alike. Following are a few of my favorites:
Japanese Saki
Dirty Martini
Cosmopolitan Martini
Pale Ale (Beer)

Comment by Madison Hart on October 21, 2012 at 5:08pm Makes me want to go out, buy a powerful microscope and start my own art business! Lord knows I have enough alcohol in the house to develop a complete portfolio!
