Speaking as someone who’s dated guys in law enforcement and security, as well as plenty of hunters and marksmen, let me tell you, a man with a gun is my kind of red-blooded man.
My love of riflemen and pistol packers goes back to my dad, an avid deer hunter and Army reservist who could cook up a mean bacon-wrapped venison tenderloin (best recipe EVER right here!) for holiday gatherings and outdoor barbecues!
He also had a way of making people around him feel safe, so it’s only natural I gravitated toward guys like dad when I started dating – especially after college, when I started living on my own in the big city.
My current boyfriend Mark fits the bill better than any man I’ve met besides Daddy (who loves him, by the way). He’s a hunter, fisherman, gun collector, NRA member and sheriff’s deputy who makes me feel as safe.
I’ll never forget the time he stood on the front porch while polishing the barrel of his rifle, and staring with squinty blue eyes at a couple of rough characters who looked suspiciously like they were “casing” the neighborhood after a spate of recent burglaries.
We never saw these guys again – and I swear the burglaries stopped!
Speaking of “Bond girls” – my other male hero besides my dad is .007. He was so sexy in that tuxedo.
Imagine my delight when I first saw Mark wearing a sexy tux as the best man for his brother’s wedding!

Great post, Heidi. Happy to hear you found a good one out there! I believe in the 2nd amendment, and think everyone should carry. I'm sure crime would drop like crazy.

Mark sounds like my kind of guy. Good luck with that one, Heidi! I agree that a man who knows his way around guns is a man worth knowing. I love to target shoot. Just fired off 250 9m rounds this weekend.
