It's time to sail this weekend...yard sale!
It's been awhile since my last sale, and you should know that I not only LOVE going to yard sales, I LOVE having them! Who doesn't love to make a little extra cash on the things they don't want anymore?
...But I have to admit, there is a little guilt associated with garage sales. It always shows how much stuff we go through in a lifetime, and how much money we waste. A perfect example of how materialistic we are as a society.
Guilt aside (glad I got that out!) I'm happy to be getting a fraction of the price for all of the overpaid things I bought during the last 5 or 6 years. If I can get $10 for those Jessica Simpson shoes I only wore once, I'd be happy!
It's a twisted, cheap, and fantastic way to purge all that crap that's been sitting in your closet, and clear your room for new crap to take it's place. Oh and did I mention it's sustainable too! Gotta love recycling!
- Where to start, where to start? -
First, I'm going through ALL of my clothes - dresser, closet, then shoes and accessories.
Next, books, movies, & music, - you might find your taste in pop culture has changed a bit.
Furniture - anything? Have a relative or friend that's willing to donate an old couch, desk, or bed to your sale!?
Then knick-knacks - decorations, costumes, sunglasses, picture frames, purses, posters, mirrors, etc.
If you feel like you have a lot that can go but not enough for a big yard sale, think about pairing up with a few friends or maybe even neighbors. Either way, it's always good to clean out your old stuff at the beginning of a new year. January is almost gone, so why wait!? Jump on that spring cleaning :)
Happy Garage Sailing!
